Things I Hate: Cora (Once Upon a Time)

While I thought her story was good and complex, I just hated her without any real reason to like or pity her. She was mostly pure evil, or at least…selfish to the core.

We learn she was born a mere daughter of a poor miller. After having Zelena in secret, she soon works her way to becoming a princess. Mainly thanks to the help of the Dark One.

Though she wasn’t super happy as a royal. But she seemed to really want her daughter, Regina to be a great Queen one day.

Rumpelstiltskin meets Cora once upon a time ABC

Like her daughters in the future, she was taught magic by Rumplestiltskin. And all the ladies had developed romantic feelings for him at one point, before most of the emotions towards him turn to hatred.

Cora was a terrible mom, she essentially made sure Regina would grow up to be as rotten as her. She kills Regina’s true love, and forces her into a political marriage. So that Regina could be “happy.”

Much more drama later, Regina kind of exiles her somewhat. Cora spends a lot of time in Wonderland as the Queen of Hearts.

But she eventually comes to Storybrooke with her own agenda. She allies with her daughter Regina, and the two do some pretty dark stuff. The ultimate goal was to murder Rumple, and take the power of his dagger.

Which backfired thanks to Snow White, lol. While she did appear as a ghost in the Underworld later, her mortal life ended here. Good riddance.
