Marvel has been absolutely a running success with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But with heroes like Iron Man and Captain America (Steve Rogers), out of the picture, we are getting the less notable heroes. I was one of the many millions who never heard of Shang-Chi before the Marvel movie was announced.
The film starts with two friends in California named Shaun and Katy. They park cars at a fancy place for a living. Despite being “friends” Katy’s family sees him more like a boyfriend to her. But she’s more than upset to learn that Shaun has a past she never knew nor expected.
That his real name is Shang-Chi. His father was an ancient warlord and leader of the Ten Rings terrorist organization which has operated globally in the shadows for centuries. He fled his father’s influence at a very young age.
But his father is definitely adamant about finding Shang-Chi and his estranged sister. They hold the keys to unlocking something he really wants open. But is that something unleashed going to destroy the world and everyone in it?
Overall Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings is one of the best Marvel movies they’ve ever done. It’s absolutely fantastic especially with the comedic brilliance of Awkwafina. It’s obvious that this won’t be the only Shang-Chi film, and it will be very challenging for Marvel to make a sequel better than the original.
