(Not So) Fun Fact: Ronald Reagan’s Bloody Thursday

Fun facts about Ronald Reagan

In 1969, a large group of students led a protest over the use of land that belonged to the University of California. Then-Governor Ronald Reagan considered the site to be a haven of communists, and ordered the police to harshly remove them. The incident became known as Bloody Thursday which resulted in one death and many injuries among students. One man became permanently blind after being shot in the face by the police. Reagan wasn’t very sad over its aftermath as a year later he said “If it takes a bloodbath, let’s get it over with. No more appeasement.” on the matter. The site actually did become a real park called People’s Park which stands today.
