Pemaquid Point Light is a lighthouse and one of the most famous places in the state of Maine. However the first construction of the lighthouse did not last long. The builder used salt water to mix with his mortar, and it didn’t take long for the lighthouse to crumble.

  1. Wow! Apparently salt causes lots of problems with mortar and cement. I wasn’t aware of this.
