Cubivore was a joint-project between Nintendo and Atlus released on the Gamecube in 2002. While video games might be strange at times, there’s nothing more bizarre than Cubivore.

The name “Cubivore” comes from the cubed shape of its ugly graphics, and the word “carnivore”. You start off with this blocky animal who must climb to the top of the food chain and bring order to the cubed land. Or something. The Japanese title was 動物番長 (Dōbutsu Banchō) which means Animal Leader.

So to become top dog you must take on weaker cubivore and grow stronger after their passing. The battles were a fast paced action-RPG, and the game was basically a video game version of the theory of evolution.

I remember skipping this game when it came out, but if I had the chance I’d probably get it now. It’s just so weird and crazy. I like that.
