Things I Like: Agent Carter (TV Series) Season 1

I do recall when Agent Carter was new on ABC. I don’t think I had an easy way to view it, so I skipped out of it entirely, despite Peggy Carter being one of my favorite MCU characters. But my wife was watching it recently on Disney+, and I jumped on the Agent Carter train.

The show starts out in 1946 with Peggy Carter working for the SSR, which was a precursor to SHIELD.

But strangely enough, despite all that she had done during World War II and how close she was to Steve Rogers, the guys at the office treat her like a coffee intern. Absolute idiots.

So she often has to do detective work on her own. Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) was amazing at disguises and faking an American accent.

It was also nice to see Howard Stark as a primary protagonist even though he spends a lot of the season hiding from the United States government.

What was really awesome was his butler Edwin Jarvis. A man definitely worthy for the future Tony Stark to name his artificial intelligence ego after.

Chad Michael Murray Agent Carter season 1 Marvel Cinematic Universe ABC

I also had seen the name Chad Michael Murray pop up during the credits and I remembered him on One Tree Hill. It may just be me, but he’s almost unrecognizable in the show compared to back then.

In short, I really enjoyed season 1. Hayley Atwell does amazing as always, I do love the look and feel of the 1940s, and Peggy Carter is just such a badass. The show has its faults such as a plot that doesn’t quite feel so central and antagonists that definitely are either made up or pulled from less notable material because they wanted to save the better ones for the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. But for something made a good bit before MCU shows on Disney+, definitely pretty good quality.
