My wife and I watched Halloweentown last year. She had the nostalgia for it but I did not. It was a decent little Halloween movie but far from my absolute favorite. We watched the second movie this Halloween.

The film is still mainly about Marnie and the Cromwell magical family. The young witch is promised by her grandmother that when she graduates high school, she can spend a whole year learning about magic in Halloweentown.

Her mom is finally on the “magic is all right” page. I almost forgot this was the same woman who played April O’Neil in the original Ninja Turtle movies.

Shortly after the movie begins, she meets a very cute boy and doesn’t think twice when he asks her to do things. Especially things connected to her famous grandmother.

And surprise surprise, Halloweentown soon becomes a dying place that once had magic. But can they restore Halloweentown to its former glory?

Overall Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge is a decent movie like its predecessor. I would say the original is technically better but there’s some things this movie does that is superior to the original story and some things that obviously are inferior. I don’t know what to expect from the two remaining sequels but I suppose I don’t have to worry about that until next Halloween time. I think it’s adorable that the girl who played Marnie recently got engaged with the guy who played Cal after they reunited.
