The original Mega Man villain, Dr. Wily should have died of old age by the time Mega Man X is set. The character Serges has dialogue in the Japanese version talking about Dr Light and his attacks resemble Dr Wily’s. Many fans believe that Dr Wily implanted his mind into a robot. Capcom has neither confirmed or denied the fan theory.
