In 1993, Strom Thurmond’s daughter Nancy Thurman was killed by a drunk driver. The woman at fault called her lawyer, Henry McMaster who is now the current governor of South Carolina. He soon realized he had to drop out of the case due to conflict of interest, as he was the personal lawyer and friend of Strom Thurmond.
