Honduras was the country where the Banana Republic term was coined. As they had an unstable economy with corrupt leadership along with heavily relying on just one export which were obviously bananas.

Honduras chose two cities (Tegucigalpa and Comayagua) as is its capital. They will alternate in importance.

Bats are surprisingly abundant in Honduras, accounting for about half the mammals there.

The name for Honduras comes from the Spanish language, which literally means “depths.”
