In Budapest, Hungary there is a statue of Peter Falk’s TV character Columbo. Peter Falk had some Hungarian ancestry on his maternal side.
Fun Fact: The Arrow Cross Party
Like World War I, Hungary was allied with Germany during World War II. Its ruling party was the Arrow Cross Party which adopted the racist polices of Nazism and right-wing ideology of Italian fascism. The ruling politicians were replaced (most were executed or imprisoned) by Soviet puppets after the end of the war.

In 1699, the Ottoman Empire was at war with most countries in central and Eastern Europe not allied with them. The Ottomans were defeated, and the Empire saw its first large amounts of lands lost, mostly in Hungary and Poland.
