Despite not being a state, and having a Spanish-speaking majority population; Puerto Rico is officially part of the United States of America. It’s a commonwealth though it’s also referred to as a territory as well. Every person born in Puerto Rico are also U.S. citizens.

When Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico, the whole island lost power. It took 3 months for roughly 55% of the population to get the power back on and about a year for almost the whole island to get it back.
