To be honest, I have somewhat been avoiding watching Grease for my whole lifetime. It’s one of the most notable films in movie history, but I just never seen it. But I figure the time was due, so I gave it a shot.

The film is based on a 1971 musical of the same name. The main character is Danny Zuko, a rather cool and suave teenager at some random high school. Out of his gang of friends, he seems to have the highest moral fiber.

Danny is deeply surprised to learn that his summer girlfriend didn’t move to Australia after all. Her name is Sandy Olsonn and she just happens to go to the same high school as he does.

As soon as they’re reunited, Sandy is furious with Danny because he pretends to be a different person around his friends. She wants the good person he was at the beach, and not this careless “cool” guy. And unfortunately for Danny, he’s going to have to earn her back.

I am not afraid to admit that I enjoyed Grease. I just don’t like John Travolta as a person much. But it is a good movie, and the songs aged well too. I might not like it as much as my mother, but I definitely don’t regret watching it.

Score: B
