I remember hearing about Scoob! in 2019. I really liked Scooby Doo when I was a kid but not every version or movie was that great. I was cautiously optimistic about this new movie however. When I saw it on HBO Max I figured I would give it a watch.

The movie starts with a flashback of when Scooby Doo was a stray dog, or should I say a stray puppy. Shaggy Rogers was once a very lonely kid. When he meets Scooby Doo, the two form the start of an amazing friendship.

Not long afterward, Shaggy and Scooby Doo meet Fred, Daphne, and Velma. While they have no idea, their new friendship will last well into adulthood. And when they grow up, they start their mystery business.

However, things get rather serious when Dick Dastardly wants Scooby Doo for some nefarious reason. Scooby Doo is the last descendent of Alexander the Great‘s dog and somehow he is the key to something the villain wants. But will the heroes save the world?

Overall, the new Scooby Doo movie starts out strong with the scene where Shaggy meets Scooby. But it quickly falls into the mundane. The plot is rather dumb, it’s more about action than mystery, and they put way too many cameos from other Hanna-Barbera characters in the movie. It’s kind of like expired vanilla ice cream, it’s consumable but you would never ever brag about it.
Oh that’s too bad:( This is on my to-watch list. Thanks for the warning:D
Bummer! I love Scooby Doo. Here’s hoping once we get through January the rest of the year is wondrous.
Hey Adam, I left a comment, but not sure it went through.
My grandson would probably like it though.
