Legendary actor Marlon Brando won an Academy Award for his role as Vito Corleone in the film The Godfather. However at the 1973 Academy Awards, a Native American woman walked on stage in his place. She delivered a message that Brando rejected his award in protest of the poor treatment of Native Americans in the film industry at that time. Currently only 1 other actor has refused to accept an Oscar.
