While the 1st amendment guarantees all Americans freedom of religion, many non-religious people have been under discrimination on a social-level. Many of those running for office rarely have confidence that they can win. Only one current member of Congress, Senator Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) is openly non-religious.
Good for her. I’m not religious either, but it irks me to no end when many of these politicians and their followers toss around their faith, but their actions and how they talk about people would send Jesus into a down right tizzy, I’m sure.
My favorite is when in a Republican primary, all candidates say God literally told them to run.
