I remember stumbling upon this movie while flipping through channels many years ago.

The Rainmaker is about a young lawyer named Rudy Baylor who just recently got out of law school and is ready to find work. He teams up with a shady law-firm out of desperation (since Memphis is crawling with lawyers) and takes on low-profile cases he managed to find.

One of his cases is from a client who has a dispute with a denied health insurance claim. Then Rudy Baylor (with some luck) manages to escalate to run with the big dogs in the lawyer game. The film does an excellent job at poking fun at lawyers, exposing the corruption in big companies, and telling a heart-breaking story.

I really loved the roles Matt Damon, Danny DeVito, and Jon Voight portray. I can’t really decide who did the best job among the trio. But for those who enjoy Damon’s work, you’ll easily fall in love with this film. It’s has a few weak-points, but it’s a truly marvellous film.
