Genghis Khan had initially offered the Khwarezmian Empire (which was located in the Middle East) the friendship of peace and trade with the Mongol Empire. The Mongols had a bad reputation, so their offer was turned down. Genghis Khan quickly led an invasion which destroyed the Khwarezmian Empire. Genghis Khan was not very merciful either where some places had his forces kill every living thing, even cats and dogs.
