It was the first movie not made by the folks at Disney. I wondered if the changes in style were just technology improving or just personal choices by the new management.
This is the first film to ditch the main characters of Peter and Susan since they were too “grown-up” for Narnia. Instead it stars Edmund, Lucy, their cousin Eustace Scrubb, and King Caspian X.
Speaking of Useless Scrubb, you’ll almost hate his character at the start. He is nothing more than a whiny little punk who hates everything except complaining. Though his journey through Narnia leads to a long change of character, and becomes the star of the show almost. I really enjoyed seeing his redemption.
While the first movie is more of a fairy tale, the 2nd movie was more of a classic tale of a clash between monarchs, the 3rd movie is more about fantasy among the sea. It has an almost pirate kind of feel to it, and the magic about the seven lords and their magical swords is extremely fascinating.
Overall I think I enjoyed this film the best. They’re all good, but this just edges out a little past The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe as the best tale so far.
