While dancing has been part of nearly every human culture ever known, there have been several cases of many people (mainly from the 14th-17th centuries) dancing erratically for unreasonable amounts of time. In what is now modern-day France, a group of about 400 people started dancing in the streets without rest for days. Many of them died from heart attack, exhaustion, and stroke.
