The world record for most days without sleep (with proof) goes to Randy Garnder who stayed awake for about 11 days in 1964. Garnder was reported to have endured the feat quite well besides little problems like mood changes, bad tempers, and loss of concentration. After his record he went to sleep for about 15 hours, and went back to a normal sleep schedule rather quickly.
11 days? He must have felt pretty horrible afterwards. I’ pretty cranky anytime I get less than 5 hours a night.
