Chocolate Chip Cookies are reported to be an accidental invention by Ruth Graves Wakefield. While making chocolate cookies for the Toll House Inn she ran out of regular chocolate. So she decided to mix in some nestle semi-sweet chocolate hoping it would melt. Her plan failed, but ironically led to the arguably most popular cookie in the world.
