My wife and I saw this the other night as we needed a date night and I’ve been wanting to see the movie before someone spoils it for me. It’s been a good number of years as this franchise has been a magnet for controversy. JK Rowling’s fanbase has rebelled against her for transphobic comments, Warner Brothers fired Johnny Depp due to his divorce with Amber Heard, and Ezra Miller is now apparently determined to fight everyone in the state of Hawaii.

The story takes place not long after the last movie. Newt Scamander will have to leave his magic zoo hobby as a side project as Gellert Grindelwald is still on the loose.

Luckily Albus Dumbledore is almost ready to fight his old friend. A girl a few rows back gasped when he mentioned that he was once in a gay relationship with the dark wizard. Except we’ve all known that for many years now.

I thought Mads Mikkelsen was a decent replacement as Grindelwald but I do miss Johnny Depp.

The whole thing about Credence being a secret Dumbledore is finally given answers. And it actually makes a lot of sense.

I was kind of surprised of how many new characters kinda join the fight. And that Tina Goldstein is mostly absent.

I was curious how Queenie Goldstein would fare in this movie. I almost forgot she joined Grindelwald at the end of the last one but for good reasons.

Before I spoil anything else, I definitely enjoyed the movie. It moves fast, it’s funny, and there are a few surprises. But out of the three Fantastic Beasts films already, this is definitely the weakest of all.
