Triboulet was a jester for the French kings Louis XII and Francis I. He actually slapped King Francis I on the behind and was almost executed for it. His comedic wit saved him when he said he mistook his monarch for the queen. He eventually got into more trouble and the king asked how he would like to die. He said of old age, and the king banished him from France.
