In 2020, Faith Cheltenham speaking on behalf of BiNet, claimed ownership of the bisexual pride flag. The problem was that she didn’t create it nor did the advocacy website and the flag’s actual creator designed it to be freely shared in 1998. Even if he wanted to copyright it, it would probably be considered too simple in design and de facto for the public domain.
After enraging the bi community, Faith was no longer president of the advocacy group that once got her praise from President Barack Obama. Instead she became a conservative Trump supporter which lost much of her remaining sympathy from the bi community.
