Sparked by anti German sentiment during the early 20th century, Nebraska banned school kids from being taught a foreign language in school. This was ruled unconstitutional in the case Meyer v. Nebraska.

    At one time they wouldn’t let children speak the Hawaiian language here in Hawaii. It was stupid people that enforced that ruling.
