When Soviets made the Kola Superdeep Borehole, it took about until 1989 for American Christians to hear the story and make up a myth about it. They claimed it was in Siberia instead of on the border with Norway and that they recorded voices of people screaming from below. They released an audio as “proof” but many believe the audio was distorted from a 1972 film called Baron Blood.
