Shmi Skywalker is Anakin Skywalker’s mother and she was a decent minor character in the Star Wars prequel trilogy.

She was a very plain slave woman on the planet Tatooine. Still makes no sense why Qui-Gon Jinn or Padme could have just freed her from slavery.

Seriously, they had plenty of resources and opportunity after Naboo was liberated. She ends up getting sold to some guy who makes her his wife. And she conveniently disappears right before Anakin comes looking for her.

She dies after being captured by the sand people. Dying literal seconds after her son found her. Which started his path to the dark side.
