While I do you think fans like this space Bigfoot a little too much, it’s hard to hate the Wookie known as Chewbacca.
He doesn’t do a whole lot during the original trilogy to be honest. As he’s mainly the companion of Han Solo and his real objective is to protect him because of a life debt.
As he’s not shy about trying to hurt anybody who ever crossed Han Solo. Chewbacca is definitely more loyal than any dog that ever lived.
I do think it’s funny that fans noted that Chewbacca never got a medal at the end of A New Hope. Maybe he got some worthless dollars from the planet Alderaan or something.
I love Chewbacca! I’d think he’s be an awesome protector!
I learned that Chewbacca’s makeup was done by the same artist, Stuart Freeborn, who did the man-ape makeup for 2001: A Space Odyssey’s Dawn Of Man. There was certainly an interesting resemblance. For an alien character who could get by with animal sounds instead of dialogue, Chewbacca made quite an impression on me.
