While the Star Wars Community right now is so toxic, they hate about everything. I don’t think there’s many that actually hate Han Solo, especially in the original trilogy.

While Luke Skywalker was the stereotypical goodie two shoes hero, Han Solo was more complex as a person. Theoretically under the right circumstances of money, he could have been easily on the side of evil rather been working for the good guys.

He was also something of a space-atheist as he told Obi-Wan Kenobi there is no such thing as the Force. Which is pretty silly especially considering that the Jedi were still an organization when he was a kid and there’s plenty of documentation about their powers and whatnot.

He was without a doubt one of the greatest pilots in the whole series. I will say that flying the Millennium Falcon in the video games is usually a pain in the butt, so hats off to him for actually piloting it well and loving his ship.

The curve ball that got me as a kid was Han Solo ending up with Princess Leia. The chemistry is definitely there for sure, but apparently Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher had a physical affair back in the day.

But their characters did generally love each other.

And Han Solo was very confused to realize that Princess Leia was Luke’s sister instead of girlfriend. While one would assume that this was just an awkward side effect of retconning, George Lucas undeniably took a lot of source material from the novel series Dune which does feature the story of brother-sister incest. So who knows?
