I remember watching the first part of this movie release years ago on HBO Max and a lot has changed in these few years. I wasn’t a dad when I watched the first movie. I even watched the original 1984 film and had plenty of time to do so. But I really enjoyed the first movie and I definitely wanted to see you this one in theaters.

Being the second half of a very large book, Dune Part 2 takes place after Paul Atreides is basically taken in by the Fremen. And he starts to quickly learn their ways and customs.

While House Harkonnen has become the stewards of planet Arrakis again thanks to their plan where they plotted with Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV to overthrow House Atreides.

Dune Part 2 follows a lot of freedom fighting but will the Fremen ever overthrow their oppressive overlords?

Dune Part 2 it’s very consistent with its predecessor as the movie is very well made, super serious, and absolutely beautiful despite being set on a very dull and miserable planet.

Austin Butler really did do an amazing job as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, the nephew of Baron Harkonnen. I actually thought it was Bill Skarsgard, because he is creepy as can be in this movie.

Christopher Walken was okay as Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV. Though I find it funny they casted him so old because the emperor in the books wanted to kill Leto attorneys because he was popular enough with the right people to potentially take his throne. But this version of the emperor looks like he’s got 10 years at best of mortal life left

I wasn’t as fond of Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan either. She’s not bad but I think the original actress from the 1984 version was more memorable.

Dune Part 2 is a remarkable film and I hope they continue to keep making the series in the same style and fashion. Though I do hear the book series get pretty darn weird but I would at least like to see the next chapter.
Glad you enjoyed!
