I remember Bedazzled back in the early 2000s, and I think I watched this movie at least five or six times. This is definitely the prime era for both Brendan Fraser and Elizabeth Hurley. I also had no idea that this film was actually based on a much older movie.

Brendan Fraser plays Elliot Richards, a nerdy guy that doesn’t have a lot of respect or friends. He crushes hard on a girl named Allison, but he definitely doesn’t have the confidence or the swagger to make her his girlfriend.

But one day he finds a beautiful angelic woman and is very dumbfounded on why she finds him fascinating.

Well there’s always a catch, she’s literally the devil. But since Satan was supposed to be a fallen angel, it’s canonically accurate to Bible nerds. And in exchange for his soul, she grants him several amounts of wishes.

For which he mostly uses to live different kinds of lives. And just like the guy with the monkey’s paw, he doesn’t think about making the wish corrupt proof.

I think my favorite wish was when he turned into Abraham Lincoln and he woke up in the reality about to watch Our American Cousin at the theater. Good thing he was awake during history class.

Critics were kind of mixed on this back in the day, but I think it’s aged fairly well. I also had a very big crush on Elizabeth Hurley when I was 12 years old. And there was a lot for a stupid kid to lust over in this movie, LOL.
wonderful older film
I used to love this movie. Watched it often many years ago. Liz is sooo pretty in this one.
