While Xavier Roberts did create Cabbage Patch Kids, the final products were eventually co-created by Martha Nelson Thomas. She was responsible for the Cabbage Patch Kids having adoption certificates. Eventually the two parted ways and eventually had a lawsuit, which was settled out of court. Thomas claimed to be more upset by the “corruption” of her dolls then the money. When she passed away, she was actually buried with her dolls.
