When I was twelve years old, Flintstones Viva Rock Vegas premiered, and I hadn’t seen the film since before I became a teenager. While it definitely wasn’t as good as the original, I remember enjoying it at the movie theater.

As a prequel, the film needed younger actors in familiar roles. You might recognize Mark Addy—he played King Robert Baratheon in Game of Thrones—as Fred Flintstone.

Stephen Baldwin, the least remarkable of the Baldwin brothers, is Barney Rubble. (Fun fact: he’s actually Justin Bieber’s father‑in‑law.)

Jane Krakowski is definitely easier on the eyes as Betty, much more so than Rosie O’Donnell, LOL.

Kristen Johnston—whom I remember best as Sally Solomon on 3rd Rock from the Sun—plays Wilma.

I’d completely forgotten that Dino the dinosaur, appears in this movie, and there’s also The Great Gazoo. Which is funny, since in the original cartoon he only showed up toward the end and wasn’t part of Fred’s early life.

I’m sure I could look up the bad reviews now, and I don’t know if I’d still enjoy it, but as a twelve‑year‑old treated to a trip to the movies by my mother, it could have been a lot worse.
Fun
As much as I like Kristen Johnston…I couldn’t watch it.
I’ve not see this one. Mark Addy is a famous actor. I’ll need to check it out!
