Elle Driver is one of the main antagonists in Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill franchise. Daryl Hannah did a marvelous job bringing this character to life, but Elle herself is pretty unlikable.

She’s one of Bill’s top assassins and was definitely involved in the Texas Chapel Massacre. She was also having an affair with Bill and became his main partner after Beatrix Kiddo disappeared. When Beatrix ends up in a coma, Elle goes to the hospital to kill her—but Bill stops her, saying it wouldn’t be honorable.

We find out much later that Elle was also a student of Pai Mei. He took out her eye after she called him “a miserable old fool.” Honestly, I understand why she poisoned his fish heads and killed him in retaliation.

I didn’t expect her to kill Budd after pretending to buy Beatrix’s sword for a million dollars. Believing Budd had already killed the Bride, Elle took him out and tried to take credit for it.

I wasn’t a big fan of the fight between Beatrix Kiddo and Elle. It was dirty, messy, and took place in Budd’s rundown trailer in Texas. I’m also not a fan of eye injuries in fiction, so I can’t really rewatch it—especially since Beatrix takes Elle’s remaining eye, leaving her blind and alone. Still, that ending feels fitting for Elle, considering everything she did.
