Fun Facts and Trivia About Ozzy Osborne

Fun Facts trivia and things you never knew about Ozzy Osborne English metal rocker musician Black Sabbath

Ozzy Osbourne was born with the name John Michael Osbourne, and the name “Ozzy” came from a nickname he earned while in school.

The “Ozzy” tattoo he had on his knuckles was from when he was a teenager, and he did the tattoos himself.

Ozzy Osbourne suffered from dyslexia, which made him struggle in school. He also claimed he never read any book from front to back until he wrote his memoir.

The reason Ozzy Osbourne claimed he got into music was because he heard The Beatles’ song She Loves You.

Before becoming a musician, Ozzy Osbourne worked as a plumber’s apprentice, a horn tuner, and at a car factory.

When he was young, he went to prison at Winston Green for burglary.

He was married for eleven years to Thelma Riley, but being on tour and his narcotics use took a toll on his family life. He called that marriage a mistake, and his two biological children from it considered him a bad father.

Despite the nickname “The Prince of Darkness,” Ozzy Osbourne was very cheerful and happy offstage.

He claimed that the bat he bit the head off of was something he thought was a rubber toy, but he had done the same thing to a dove a year earlier while talking to CBS executives.

His first band was not Black Sabbath but one called Rare Breed.

He was actually fired from Black Sabbath in 1979 for heavy narcotics use.

His future wife, Sharon, managed his solo career and is often credited with saving both his career and his life.

The MTV reality show The Osbournes was credited with giving him another chance to become a household name.

He did not have the best track record while intoxicated: he shot his own cats, relieved himself on the Alamo and the White House lawn, and even tried to kill his wife, Sharon.

Scientists discovered that he had a gene mutation allowing him to tolerate more narcotics and alcohol than the average person.

Ozzy Osbourne’s favorite meal was reportedly fish and chips.

He received his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2002.

He was also an artist and enjoyed painting in his free time.

He initially refused to work with Elton John, considering him “too soft rock,” but the two legends eventually collaborated on a project.

Despite his reputation as the Prince of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne was not a Satanist or even an atheist. His statements about religion were often contradictory, suggesting he was either a traditional Christian or an agnostic deist.
