The movie Evolution was a fairly decent minor hit back in the day. I didn’t watch it in theaters, but I think I caught it on TV a few years later. I remember my brother Brandon being very interested in it and that was the reason I decided to give it a watch as well.

I don’t remember the plot too clearly, but I think a meteor or something crashes on Earth carrying primitive life forms that evolve rapidly into dangerous and hard-to-kill alien monsters.

It was probably a smart move to cast David Duchovny in the lead role. It just feels natural to associate him with sci-fi thanks to his long-running role on The X-Files.

And it’s not too surprising that his love interest is played by Julianne Moore, who kind of resembles his X-Files co-star Gillian Anderson.

I haven’t given the movie a proper rewatch in a long time, but I’m pretty sure it hasn’t aged all that well. Some of the special effects are laughable now, and the aliens are way too goofy to take seriously at times.

But I’ll never forget that the aliens were defeated with Head & Shoulders shampoo. This movie came out when I was in middle school, and I had a pretty bad dandruff problem myself—so in a weird way, Head & Shoulders saved my existence too. LOL.
My partner told me to watch this ages ago. And I never got around to it!
