Samuel Loomis is one of my favorite characters in the original Halloween movie franchise. Apparently, Christopher Lee turned down the role and later regretted it, calling it the worst mistake of his career. But it’s hard to imagine anyone other than Donald Pleasence in the role.

He started out as Michael Myers’ former psychiatrist. But he isn’t above shooting him to save another person, though isn’t that against the Hippocratic Oath? Maybe? I don’t know.

But he was always the source of wisdom and coolness. Donald Pleasence as Loomis was so badass that a not-so-tall bald man was cooler than most people I know.

And he stuck around for most of the sequels, even the ones where Laurie Strode is written off as dead in a car crash and he has to protect her daughter.

His fate has been the subject of debate. There was a deleted scene where he confronts his former patient and is murdered by him, but they officially retconned it to a more peaceful demise. RIP Donald Pleasence, you legend.
He wss very good. Christopher Lee? Really wow. I bet he did regret it. I really liked him 😀
