I remember his incarnation in the game’s prequel Curse of the Moon and I liked using his powers in that game. I didn’t quite expect this alchemist/wizard guy to be more of an antagonist in Ritual of the Night.

His motives aren’t too clear at first. He apparently trained Johannes or something before the split between master and apprentice. He does confront Gebel but they never seem to have a true fight.

But he directly challenges Miriam as she lands in a trap not set for her or Gebel.

This boss battle gave me the most grief in the whole game. I did like it in a way but his magic was killer.

The worst part was his curse magic, it took me a lot of leveling up and some clever magic and items to overcome that.

After you beat him, he flees like a coward. But you do get a pretty nifty magical ability after the fight.

His true enemy was Dominique, who was secretly the game’s true evil mastermind.

But she gets the best of him. He dies in front of Miriam, Johanness, and Zangetsu. Then we realize HE R GOOD GUY AFTER ALL.
