In the late 1990’s, NASA launched the Mars Polar Lander which was sent to study the soil and climate of southern Mars. But the lander struck Mars at a high velocity which caused it to damage beyond repair and NASA lost all communication with it.

    I remember when this happened. I was really sad. Space exploration is critical to our future. One of the hardest things about dying for me is not knowing how it all turns out.
