During the Cold War many countries opted to be part of the Non-aligned movement which separated them from the West led by the United States and the Communist nations led by the Soviet Union. While many capitalist countries didn’t join the political alliance with the West, Yugoslavia (which was a single-party communist country) decided not to officially be part of the Soviet Union’s power bloc.
