While I hated Rising Sun on Gamecube, I thought I might give Frontline a shot. From what I remember it was more highly rated and well received among the gaming community. It was a good time for the Medal of Honor guys before games like Halo, Gears of War, and Call of Duty took the spotlight.

For its time, Frontline was a fantastic attempt at recreating the World War II experience. Today it looks like poop. I’m sorry to use such a childish remark, but it really does. The game looks muddy, and I had a hard time just trying to find my teammates or enemy forces. The controls are also a bit floaty and imprecise at times.

I guess the best thing about Frontline is that it gives me appreciation for the FPSs of today. I remember my first time playing Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The graphics were crisp, my teammates were worth something, the audio superb, and every part of the campaign was memorable and exciting. Pretty much everything I said is the opposite for Frontline. I know it has a solid fanbase, but honestly this has aged out to be a very run of the mill shooter.
