Toph Beifong was one of the best characters from Avatar: The Last Airbender. She’s mostly the same in The Legend of Korra but with a lot less time on screen and a lot more wrinkles on her skin.

Like most of the characters from Avatar: The Last Airbender, we do see her as a young adult in a flashback. She basically was the police chief of Republic City, eventually resigning due to the scandal of one of her daughters breaking the law.

We finally get to see her near the end of the series in her present state. A cranky old woman living in the woods.

It was fun to watch her interact with the newer generation of characters. She really hasn’t changed much at all, which is wonderful.

She does help out her daughters and friends near the end against Kuriza. It is weird to think of her as a mother. Apparently the fathers of her children are not anybody important.
