Fire Lord Zuko started his reign at the very end of Avatar: The Last Airbender. By the time of The Legend of Korra, he has already abdicated in favor of his daughter. I’m assuming he did this so he could look after the safety of Korra after she was born. I was glad to see him return.
He’s changed a lot since the first series, that big giant dragon would probably have been a lot of help.
He mainly shows up to help Korra defeat the Red Lotus Group.
He even fights against them but his power is no match to stop them by himself. But he does survive and sees the end of the series.
