Alexander’s First Day of Daycare is Today

Daycare newborn crib and cubby

Alexander will start something in less than an hour that his daddy never had to experience, daycare. Mommy isn’t exactly happy to leave him though she loved the daycare when Princess L went to 4K. He’s next to and across from two other boys only slightly older. I have a feeling these boys are going to be his besties before kindergarten. I’m not exactly excited about leaving him but he’s in good hands.

I will say, daycare prices are like the mafia. They know you’re going to pay it and just enough to keep both parents working. It’s a shame America would rather give trillions to the top one percent than support working families. If Republicans were really “prolife”, they’d probably realize that over $800 a month for daycare isn’t exactly going to motivate women with small bank accounts about keeping their babies.

How did he get on? Did he enjoy it?

OMG Adam in Scotland we get free childcare after the child turns 3. But prior to that nothing!!! And childcare is very expensive here, even if I did a fulltime job that paid for the childcare, I’d have buttons left. So that is why I decided to do a few shifts on nights as my partner works days. Which suited us until last week when I ended up in hospital!

Daughter went to childcare when she turned 3 last November. But they have had so many staffing issues and other problems, that they aren’t reliable! So good thing I was working nights because she missed many days and I was there to look after her. She is due back this Thursday and I have no idea how this session will turn out!

I know when she started I stressed for weeks thinking would she be safe and had major trust issues with the childcare establishment. As time goes on and he settles you will be okay.

Daycare costs are insane. It’s why I quit my job in the first place. I was working to pay for childcare. It was ridiculous. If you don’t have family or friends to offer reliable and inexpensive care, I don’t see how a family can afford it. I agree, we definitely need universal childcare in addition to universal healthcare. It’s embarrassing that we don’t look after our own here. I hope he had a good day in daycare!

Well said, Adam! Pro-life Republicans don’t care about babies after they take their first breath.
