While it’s probable for a losing player to win the most valuable player award during the Super Bowl in games that are very very close, it’s almost always awarded to the player on the winning side. The only player to receive it so far is Chuck Howley, who played for the Dallas Cowboys, in which they barely lost Super Bowl V to the Baltimore Colts.
