I was a minor fan of the original Curse of the Moon, but a big fan of its more notable counterpart Ritual of the Night. I bought the game on Nintendo Switch a few months ago when it was on sale, and forgot to play it because I was playing something else. To be honest, I was very disappointed.

It’s very similar to the original Curse of the Moon game. Both of them are new titles that pretend like they’re the old retro 8-bit games on the Nintendo Entertainment System.

I was shocked that Zangetsu was the only returning character that was playable from the first Curse of the Moon.

Instead we get Dominique who actually was the main antagonist of Ritual of the Night.

Her powers and her spear are actually pretty darn good.

The third playable character is Zangetsu’s friend Robert.

And he uses a gun and fires at enemies like a sniper. While he was helpful in some areas, but he was kind of useless in others.

And then we have Hachi who is a dog in a mech suit. You can’t make this stuff up.

He was actually my favorite one to play as, since his strength and endurance are second to none.

But I found Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 to be mostly boring and frustrating at the same time. It has some good ideas but others just aren’t the same as the original.
