US Grant, as president, was arrested for speeding in washington dc with his horse and buggy. He’d been caught and warned 3 times prior. He paid a $20 fine. But I don’t think traffic violations are considered a crime. Linda in Kansas
I knew this, makes you wonder how the cop’s boss felt the next day. Not sure how it was back then, but traffic citations are technically misdemeanors but they almost never require jail time

Legally, however, he is not officially a “criminal” until he has been convicted.
