To be honest, Guardians of the Galaxy wasn’t my favorite team in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But I definitely enjoyed them in the Avengers movies and also in the first and second stories of their own. With James Gunn jumping ship to head the new DC Comics movie universe, this is the end of his version of Guardians of the Galaxy.

Taking place a few years after Endgame (I assume) Peter Quill is still very upset that Gamora doesn’t remember him at all. Which would make sense, because she’s just from the past and that version of her never met him.

Instead, she’s a ruthless leader of some space pirates. It was a little weird to see Gamora go back to more evil roots, but it does make sense.

The story kicks off with a new being named Adam Warlock coming out of nowhere to attack Rocket Raccoon.
I was actually pretty impressed by Will Poulter as Adam Warlock, as I had extreme doubts about him when he was casted.

But Adam Warlock’s assault upon Rocket Raccoon is unsuccessful with a kill but he gets the space rodent pretty darn close to death’s door. So Star-Lord goes out to find a cure to save his buddy.

While many would think that Adam Warlock was the villain of the movie, it is truly the High Evolutionary as the bad guy. He was definitely a very good villain. There’s a fan theory that he could be a Kang variant and that would make a lot of sense.

I also thought it was pretty cool that Groot has kind of grown up now. He now looks like his biological father in size, for the most part

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is definitely one of the better movies of Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There is a lot of action and surprises and I will say that I was shocked on the fate of certain characters. I won’t tell you that the Guardians of the Galaxy will return, but I would recommend you go see it at the movie theater.
