Laenor Velaryon was a interesting character on House of the Dragon. The heir to a great house, there’s more to his story than meets the eye.

He was a pretty good warrior and military strategist.

While the show doesn’t give him a lot of time, he was a dragon rider and did pretty well against those soldiers in the Stepstones.

But it becomes very clear that he does not prefer the company of women or enjoy the company of women at all. Which makes things a little tricky by being an heir to his father and husband to Rhaenyra Targaryen. He agrees to let her have a secret lover and also is okay with being the legal father of her illegitimate children.

But when Rhaenyra Targaryen wants to marry Daemon, his parents find him burned beyond recognition. Which is rather horrific, to think of as a parent.

But he surprisingly he didn’t die at all and it was all staged. Both him and his wife wanted a different life and she allowed him a path to escape. In the books he was actually killed by his lover over a bit of jealousy, so I don’t expect to see him at return in season 2.
